Atticus had used every tool vailable to free men to save Tom Robinson, but in the secret courts of mens hearts Atticus had no case. Tom was a dead man the minute Mayella Ewell opened her mouth and screamed (Lee). Atticus, Robinsons lawyer, fought for his freedom with an unfailing heart. But because, the town itself had a reputation to keep and there were many who discriminated, Atticus lost the case. Whether its one against all or all against one, its important to know what each side was fghting for.
